The block, made of Aurisina stone, was found around the Tito Livio Riviera, in Padua, during excavations carried out in 1826-27, and it became one of the Museum's lapidary collections. This is a fragment of an architrave dating from the mid-1st century AD, severely damaged especially in the lower portion and on the left side, in which, however, details of the right side can still be clearly distinguished.
The decoration of the frieze shows various elements belonging to the military sphere, hence the name "weapon frieze": from the left it is possible to recognize a schiniere (front leg protection), a lance, an anatomical breastplate, a hexagonal shield, a wheel, a carnyx (Gallic war trumpet), a second shield, more lances, and a last shield, but facing inwards, leaving the band for the handle visible. Below the frieze there is a crowning with plant-related decoration.
